Subject: Official request for information by Men's Aid

Dear Mr Mortimer

Thank you for your request for information.

I apologise for the delay in responding however, i have had to collate information from various departments. Unfortunately there is no breakdown for specific funding for DV in respect of men and women separately and as we are only a District Council a number of our funding initiatives are carried out in partnership with our organisations.

In response to your request i am can confirm :

1. Housing Benefit is paid to eligible occupants of local Women’s Refuges or victims of DV in the community

2. Housing Services funded sanctuary scheme measures to be installed for a DV household during 2005/06 at the cost of £714.41 (including VAT). More of these measures will be considered on a case by case basis.

3. Another way in which we provide financial support for domestic violence services is via the Worcestershire Supporting People programme – this is government revenue funding for housing related support services within the county - which is managed via a Partnership consisting of representative of the Worcestershire LAs (including WDC), the County Council, the Primary Care Trusts, Probation and a Provider Forum representative. Should you require information about the amount of investment you will need to contact them directly - Supporting People Manager - Tel 01905 763763.

4. For the past two years Wychavon Community Safety has, with funding obtained through South Worcestershire Community Safety forum, given £15,000 each year to the Droitwich womens refuge for outreach support work throughout Wychavon. That has now stopped. However, free security equipment is issued to vulnerable residents and that does include domestic violence victims. As a South Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership we help to fund initiatives such as the 24 hour helpline and training projects. Again should you require specific information it may be best for you to contact these organisations directly:

Worcestershires Domestic Violence Co-ordinator Claire Richards County Council , The Pines, Bilford Road, Worcester WR3 8PU. Tel 01905 752817. Email crichards@worcestershire.gov.uk and Richard Loveridge the South Worcestershire Community Safety Project Manager who is responsible for monitoring all projects including those involving domestic violence . Wyatt House, Farrier Street, Worcester WR1 3BB. Tel 01905 722383. Email rloveridge@cityofworcester.gov.uk

I trust this information is sufficient for your purposes however should you have any further queries please contact me.

Should you have any queries regarding the way in which this request has been dealt with please contact Ian Marshall, Head of Legal and Support Services.

yours sincerely
