Dear Mr Wiffen,
I can confirm that in the
London Borough of Waltham Forest there are two programs for male perpetrators
of domestic violence. There is a mandatory men’s perpetrator’s
programme run by the Probation Service for convicted offenders and
an East London Domestic Violence perpetrators programme for unconvicted
male offenders only. The Council does not currently have a program
for female perpetrators of domestic violence.
I can also confirm that
approximately £12,000 is provided in funding by the Council
to the East London Domestic Violence perpetrators program, this amount
will be reassessed next year.
With kind regards,

Dear Mr Mortimer,
Thank you for
your request for information made to the Council on 27 June 2006 for
the number of help and support groups the Council funds directly for
a) male and b) female victims of domestic violence and their children
and c) how much each one receives per annum.
In response to
your request I can confirm the following:
1) The Council
directly funds the following organisations:

The
Council has a contract with ALERT to the value of £261,000
per annum to provide support services to male and female victims
of domestic violence and hate crime. The Council is unable to
disaggregate the proportion of the £261,000 that is used
for domestic violence alone.
-
SafetyNet,
a stakeholder partnership between the Council and the Police,
funds Sunflowers Support Group for women costing £3000 and
the Qalb Centre providing counselling for women and men costing
£7000.
-
The
Council also funds 29 refuge places.
Yours sincerely,
