Subject: Official request for information by Men's Aid
Dear Mr Mortimer
Thank you for
your enquiry into the services we provide for male and female victims
of Domestic Violence/Abuse in West Sussex. West Sussex County Council
fund the Domestic Violence/Abuse Information Shops in each district/
borough of West Sussex, open to men and women. Crawley are piloting
a DV Information Shop for 'male only' victims of domestic violence/abuse
(see
attachment). After evaluation of this service a decision will
be made to whether or not it is viable to role out county wide.
We have a service called
WORTH set up in an A&E and Maternity department in a West Sussex
hospital. It is routine screening of domestic abuse of all patients
attending at A & E regardless of gender. Clients have access to
caseworkers if they wish to talk to someone about the abuse. WORTH
services are piloting a Children's Service, which is proving to be
highly successful. WORTH services are due to be rolled out to another
two hospitals in West Sussex over then next two years.
We will have to get back
to you with information regarding costs as we have to access this
through our finance department, but I hope this information is of
help in the mean time.
If we can be of any further
help please email me.
Regards
