Subject: Official request for information
Dear Mr Mortimer
I write further
to your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act,
and would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the delay
in responding.
Unfortunately,
the Council does not fund any specific help and support groups or
services for male victims of domestic violence, although may of the
services supported are open to victims of both sexes.
Most of the funding
by Swale Borough Council is made indirectly through the Swale Community
Safety Partnership who contributed the following amounts to Domestic
Violence Projects during the last financial year:
£500 to the Domestic Violence Forum for administration purposes
£1350 for Domestic Violence Parking Tickets - this allowed a
domestic violence message and help line number to be made available
to all victims of domestic violence in a way that would not arouse
their partners attention.
£1000 for Ccure Project - this enables the victim of domestic
violence to have a safe room in there property without the need to
go to a shelter.
£1000 to Victim Support (This money would only be partially
used to assist victims of domestic violence as they support victims
of all types of crime)
£5000 to Women's Support Services - Contribution towards an
outreach worker.
In terms of direct funding by Swale Borough Council £546 was
given to Victim Support in 2006/7. Again this money would only be
partially used to assist victims of domestic violence as they support
victims of all types of crime.
Yours sincerely
Donna Price
