Dear Mr Wiffen,

Re. Freedom of information request; Domestic Violence Perpetrators.

Stirling Council Criminal Justice Service works in partnership with Falkirk Council, Clackmannan Council and SACRO in running one groupwork programme for male perpetrators of domestic violence. There is no groupwork programme for female perpetrators as numbers would not sustain this. Criminal Justice workers work on an individual basis with all types of male and female offenders.

The perpetrator programme is not funded by Stirling Council but out of the total direct criminal Justice grant from the Scottish Executive to the Forth Valley Grouping of Council's Criminal Justice Services.

Within this amount is a sum of non-core funding which we designate to purchase delivery of groupwork services from SACRO.

The current sum for this Service (for all groupwork services across the three councils) is £120,000 per year. Of this around 15%-25% might be spent delivering the Domestic Violence Programme, dependent upon the volume and nature of domestic violence perpetrators placed under our supervision by the courts in any given year.

The ratio of size and pro-rata financial commitment between the three councils is 5-3-2, with Stirling being the "3". That means that in principle, the quantity of the Scottish Executive's money that Stirling Council will have conducted into the Domestic Violence Programme, will be three tenths of the total amount.

In other words, three tenths of 15 to 25 percent of £12000.

This is £6000 to £9000, though I emphasise this is not Council raised money but a Scottish Executive Grant that we administer.

Tim Parkinson
