Dear Mr Mortimer

I refer to your FOI request below regarding help and support provided to victims of domestic abuse.

South Tyneside Council does not fund (directly or indirectly) any help or support groups for male victims of domestic abuse.

In the financial year ended 31st March 2004 South Tyneside Council provided a grant of £29,795.00 to South Tyneside Women's Aid towards the operational costs of a creche at the Women's Refuge. In addition the Local Authority manages the Supporting People initiative which provided £208,285.00 for the core costs of providing safe emergency accomodation for women and children suffering domestic violence."

If you have any further queries regarding this matter then please do not hesitate to contact me as soon as possible.
