Dear Mr Mortimer
At present the
only funding Strategic Housing provides for services for people experiencing
domestic violence is through the Sanctuary scheme. As I'm sure you're
aware Sanctuary enables both men and women experiencing domestic violence
to remain safely in their homes through the provision of additional
security measures. This scheme is funded by a variety of agencies
including Rushcliffe Borough Council, who currently contribute £3000
per year.
Unfortunately
we do not currently have any refuge provision in our area and we therefore
have to access refuges in other areas. We also access support services
provided by Women's Aid. We are currently advertising for a Domestic
Violence Co-ordinator who will provide support to people experiencing
domestic violence in Rushcliffe and hope to have a member of staff
in place by September 2006.
I have forwarded
this email to my colleague in Community Development and asked her
to respond as to whether they provide any funding for support services
from the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
Hope this is of use to you.
Regards
Charlotte McGraw
