Dear Dave,
Please find attached
a copy of the Domestic Violence LAA outcome for Cornwall. (Alternatively
it can be viewed by clicking onto the link below)
http://www.cornwallstrategicpartnership.gov.uk/media/adobe/0/p/SAFE_1_Domestic_Violence.pdf
I am not sure
how much you know about the LAA, but much of the funding that used
to come from the Home Office to each district to support crime reduction
initiatives locally has been pooled at a County Level through Cornwall
County Council, to deliver County Wide Initiatives.
In order to achieve
the LAA objectives/outcomes, each district contributes staff time
and assists with the implementation of the delivery plan.
One such piece
of work this year is the development and implementation of 7 Dometsic
Violence Advocacy workers, one for each district employed by each
of the 6 District Councils, and with one of the post holders being
a specialist advocacy worker for men.
As I do not sit
on the Domestic Violence delivery group, my knowledge of this initiative
is not particulary good, but I am aware that these posts have been
advertised or are in the process of being advertised. The point of
contact in relation to this outcome is sarah.necke@kerrier.gov.uk
tel: 01209 614199.
In terms of local
initiatives, we have a domestic violence forum which meets at least
4 times each year, and was instrumental in setting up the West Cornwall
Sanctuary Scheme. (This scheme is a victim centred initiative which
aims to make it possible for victims of Domestic Violence and hate
crime to remain in their homes and feel safe).
This forum has
membership from Penwith District Council, Police, DIVA (Penzance Womens
Aid) Registered Social Housing Providers, Victim Support, Probation
Service, Surestart and local solicitors.
Penwith District
Council is a key member of this group and has in the past funded awareness
campaigns, posters, bus advertising, booklets, bookmarks etc and each
year pays for Multi Agency Domestic Violence Awareness Training.
Our work to support
the County LAA and local groups continues, with much of the activity
becoming mainstreamed.
We have also funded
the County wide Domestic Violence Co-ordinator, a post held in Cornwall
County Council, but this post is currently vacant following the recent
resignation of the post holder.
Yours sincerely

Act.
Dear Dave,
Strictly in relation
to your request “how many help and support groups you fund directly
or indirectly for (A) male and (B) female victims of domestic abuse
and their children and (c) how much each one receives pa?” I
can inform you that Penwith District Council does not directly fund
help and support groups in relation to male and female victims of
domestic abuse and their children. Neither does Penwith District Council
indirectly fund help and support groups for male or female victims
of domestic abuse and their children.
However, unrelated
to your specific request regarding help and support groups, Penwith
District Council is involved in many areas of work surrounding funding
and support for interventions related to domestic abuse issues both
at a local and county level for men women and children. I would be
happy to talk to you in more detail about these.
Yours sincerely
