Dear Mr Mortimer

During the 2005/06 financial year Oxfordshire County Council did not fund any support groups or services relating to male victims of domestic abuse.

During the 2005/06 financial year Oxfordshire County Council funded three refuges for women within Oxfordshire. The figures are below:

Name of refuge / project Amount funded
Cherwell Housing Trust Refuge £ 96,401.00
Oxfordshire Women's Aid £ 116,575.68
Sahara Asian Women's Project £ 55,050.04
Total £ 268, 026.72

Oxfordshire County Council’s Family Support & Assessment Service is intending to make a small contribution towards a female victims’ support group in the north of the county.

Oxfordshire County Council also employs a County Domestic Violence Co-ordinator in conjunction with the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP) from each of the District Councils. The annual cost to maintain this post is £ 40,000 of which £ 33,000 is paid by the partnership and the remaining £ 7,000 is paid by the council.

The County Domestic Violence Co-ordinator also spent a total of £ 16,828.96 on domestic violence project work for the 2005/06 financial year. Please note that none of this spending went directly to support groups or services relating to male or female victims of domestic abuse.

Yours sincerely
