Subject: Freedom of Information Request - Domestic Violence
Dear Mr Mortimer,
You asked how
many help and support groups the Council fund directly or indirectly
for (A) male and (B) female victims of domestic violence and their
children and (C) how much each one receives pa.
I can advise you,
in respect of males and their children, in this financial year, that
Orkney Doemstic Abuse Training Consortia has recieved £21,140
from the Council to build capacity in terms of training and awareness
raising on the issues surrounding domestic abuse.
In respect of
females and their children, the Council provided up to £40,000
to Women's Aid Orkney, primarily for the operation of a Women's Refuge.
Accomodation at the Refuge consists of female headed households often
with children. This is in addition to the element of funding referred
to above in respect of Orkney Doemstic Abuse Training Consortia, which
will benefit females.
I reust the above
is of assistance.
Regards
David Thompson
