Dear Michael,
Thank you for your enquiry,
which I received today. I am replying as the new Chair of the North
West Leicestershire Domestic Violence Forum. The Forum is undergoing
many changes at the moment in order to address a changing agenda and
the needs of local people. At this time, the work of the Forum is
awareness based - funds and resources do no stretch to provision of
intervention programmes
As I am sure you are aware,
North West Leicestershire is not a unitary authority and much of our
work in this field is commissioned and funded at County level. This
does not, however, lessen our resolve to identify methods of filling
gaps in our service provision, in accordance with local needs.
Regards
Lynne Hughes

Dear Mr Mortimer,
I would inform
you that, during the financial year from 1st April 2005 to 31st March
2006, the following grants were made to the organisations shown.
1. Grant to East
Midlands Housing Association in respect of a refuge for Women (and
their children, where appropriate) = £13,020.
2. Grant to NWL
Domestic Violence Forum (deals with Women and children issues only)
= £590.
[A grant of £560
was also made to Victim Support Leicestershire & Rutland but this
organisation is not restricted to victims of Domestic Violence.]
No funding was
made by the Council in respect of groups/organisations for male victims
of Domestic Violence.
I trust that the
foregoing satisfies your request.
Yours sincerely,
R. J. Hall.
