Dear Mr Mortimer
Nottingham City
Council funds Gay Switch Board, Relate and Nottingham Counselling
Services by approximately £83K. The council also funds the Nottingham
Domestic Violence Forum approximately £30K for work with men.
Additionally, Nottingham City Council funds a 24 hour free phone help
line which refers male victims to the National Male Victim helpline
and/or Lesbian and Gay Switch Board. The helpline receives £47K
from the council.
Nottingham City
Council also directly provides and funds Housing, Hostels, Social
Services and Welfare Rights.
Women victims
of domestic violence are able to access all the services listed above
and in addition they can access refuge. There are five refuges in
Nottingham costing £831,500.
As the voluntary
sector is commissioned to provide services on behalf of Nottingham
City Council and the process for advising agencies of this years funding
is not complete, we are unable to provide exact budgets for each agency.
Also, we are unable
to establish how much of the Nottingham City Council budget is spent
on providing services to male or female victims from Housing, Hostels,
Social Services or Welfare Rights as this information is not held.
Yours sincerely,
Alan Stead
