Subject: FOI Request

Dear Mr Wiffen,

I write in connection with your request for information dated 20th of October 2006. I note you sought access to the following information:

'How many male and female victims of domestic violence were recorded by each of the police districts (inside Norfolk Constabulary Police Force area) in each of the last 3 full financial years?'

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within the Norfolk Constabulary and I can confirm that the information you have requested is held.

Results of the Searches:

Please note, that the figures shown in the table above represent the number of incidents were the victim of domestic violence was recorded as a male or a female. In considering these figures, it should be recognised that they do not take into account instances where an individual may be a repeat victim. Therefore the actual number of persons who have been the victim of such incidents may be lower than the actual recorded number of incidents.

For clarification purposes, I have also provided a map of Norfolk, which details the geography of the three Police Divisions operated by the Norfolk Constabulary. The areas of the map prefixed with a ‘B’ fall within the ‘Central Division’, those prefixed ‘C’ within the ‘Eastern Division’, and those prefixed ‘D’ within the ‘Western division’.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr. Mortimer

Please find listed below the breakdown of information as requested. For the purpose of this request a Unit = a single person place which would include the person’s children if relevant

Funding

All Accommodation (refuge) based services are only available to women and their children.

Floating support delivered by 1 Provider is available to men and women (25 units, although this will vary according to demand). Other Providers only deliver services to women and their families.

Other floating support services across the County will provide support to men fleeing domestic violence however, these will be rarely be recorded as such and this is difficult to track.

Support Group Providing Refuge Based Accommodation

1 @ £191,767.49 pa

1 @ £ 49,689.23 pa

1 @ £ 51,258.16 pa

1 @ £ 4320.75 pa

1 @ £ 29,473.16 pa

These are provided by 4 Norfolk District Councils and these are specifically for victims of domestic violence.

There are few refuges in Norfolk and keeping locations, even districts, anonymous and secure is paramount to the safety of the women and children they accommodate because of this we do not wish to release information regarding the District Councils that could be used in any way to identify the location of services delivered.

Yours sincerely
