Information requested Information provided and any exemptions applied

How many help and support groups you fund directly or indirectly for:

(a)        Male victims of domestic violence and their children

 (b)        Female victims of domestic violence and their children.  How much each one receives per annum

We do not directly fund any support groups for male victims of domestic abuse.  However some of the projects funded through Women’s Aid would be relevant to  male victims and their children as follows:

o        Helping Hands for Children – an educational resource pack for children, delivered to primary school children and designed to help identify problems such as domestic abuse.

o        An information leaflet for older victims of domestic abuse, relevant to both male and female.

o        Employment (through Women’s Aid) of a Domestic Violence Inter Agency Training Worker – to raise awareness of Domestic Abuse across 5 council areas in Northern Ireland (Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey).  This worker will deliver training to a wide range of organisations therefore the target audience will naturally include males.  In the project implementation plan it is recognized that there is potential for contact through interface working with support groups for male victims of domestic abuse.

o        Newtownabbey Community Safety Partnership provides direct funding to Women’s Aid for a range of projects, the amount over the next two years would be approximately £19,000.

Thank you
