Dear Mr Mortimer
I am writing in respect
of your recent enquiry for information held by North Somerset Council
under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (2000).
Further to your request,
most services provided to victims of domestic violence are not domestic
violence specific and are provided by the statutory sector such as
Children and Young People’s Services, Police, Housing, Primary
Care Trust. Services are provided to all victims regardless of sex.
I can confirm that the
following organisations who work with victims of domestic violence
receive grants from North Somerset Council:
Victim Support who offer
support to men and women victims of domestic violence £1300
per annum
Domestic Abuse Forum received £1,200 this year for awareness
raising and administration for all victims
Our Community Safety and
drug action team has a budget of £5000 this year which pays
for information leaflets, training, awareness raising, website maintenance
and events, all of which are for men and women victims of domestic
violence.
Our Supporting People service
do not fund specific “support groups” but commission services
from the following organisations:
NADA(NOVAS) Women only
– 20 units of floating support
Christian Alliance Women
only – 12 accommodation units
Christian Alliance Men
only – 2 accommodation units
Gemini – refuge for
women children and men
Yours sincerely
Elly Smith
