We fund various projects that help and support groups and services.

In the financial year 2005/06 our Community and Housing department funded two services for women fleeing domestic violence.

Merton Refuge £107,971.30

Servite Houses – Shanti Project £43,619.95

Safer Merton has advised that the main service funded is a domestic violence advocate based at victim support in Merton. The total expenditure in 2005/06 for domestic violence was £25,732.75 from the Home Office. £6,028.50 of this funding was spent on the advocate with additional support/set up costs of £398.94. A Total of £6,427.44 was paid to Victim Support during 2005/06.

All services that Safer Merton funds are available regardless of gender, so we are unable to answer question C as the information is not held.

Helen Edwards
