Subject: Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programmes
Dear Mr Wiffen
I wish to advise you that
Limavady Borough Council does not provide or fund any domestic violence
programmes that are specifically for perpetrators of domestic violence
acts, either male or female.
The Council's Community
Safety Partnership does, however, currently provide funding support
to a Domestic Violence Project and has allocated the sum of £15,000
to this project for the period April 2006 to March 2007. Further details
on this project are attached for your information.
The lead partner in the
project is Foyle Women's Aid and they are responsible for the day
to day running of the project. Contact details for Foyle Women's Aid
are given below if you wish to make further enquiries in relation
to this particular Domestic Violence Project.

Subject: Freedom of Information Request
Dear Mr Mortimer
Further to your
e-mail of 27th June 2006 in which you requested access to information
held by the Council under the above legislation. You specifically
sought access to information relating to the funding of help and support
groups for male and female victims of domestic violence and their
children and information on how much each group received per annum.
I would advise
you that, following investigations, it has been determined that the
Council has not given any grant aid support either directly or indirectly
to help and support groups specifically for male and female victims
of domestic violence over the past six years.
Funding has, however,
been given by the Council to the Wave Trauma Centre which provides
counselling for the victims of violence (£1,000 in 2001 and
£500 in 2003) but this relates primarily to violence associated
with ‘The Troubles’. The Council has also provided funding
to the Rainbow Trust to help them set up a Support Group for gay men
in the Limavady area on the basis of victimisation suffered by this
group.
If you are not
satisfied with the response you have received to your request for
access to information, please note that you can ask for the matter
to be reviewed. In order to have this review carried out please put
your request or complaint in writing to the Chief Executive of Limavady
Borough Council, 7 Connell Street, Limavady, BT49 OHA. He will carry
out an investigation into how the matter was dealt with by Council
Officers and he will then respond to you directly when he has completed
his investigation.
If you have any
queries in relation to your request for access to information, please
do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
