Dear Mr Wiffen

You have asked for: how many domestic violence perpetrator programs their are in Lambeth London Borough Council for: (A) Male perpetrators of domestic violence? (B) Female perpetrators of domestic violence? (C) How much funding is provided by Lambeth London Borough Council to provide each service?

Adults and Community Services department is now the lead on domestic violence issues.  We receive Neighbourhood Renewal funding of £60,000 which is used to run the Gaya Centre for women experiencing domestic violence.

Supporting People currently fund ‘DV specific’ services for women only, refugees, and 1 floating support service.  Please see the table below.  We do not have any DV specific services for men.  However, all SP Supported Housing Providers in Lambeth are required to have a DV policy and Staff Training Programme that raises awareness of Domestic Violence.

Additionally, in the financial year 2005-2006 the local authority spent nearly £250k on the refurbishment of the Gaia centre.  The police also paid significant sums towards the refurbishment costs (these figures do not form the Council’s budget and therefore cannot be disclosed).

Also, the Council also supported funding of the Domestic Violence Co-ordinator/Admin and DV Trainer – who although not directly providing services to victims do huge amounts of work to improve service provision.

Kind regards,

Victor Ruskin
