Dear Mr Mortimer,

On 28th June 2006, we received the following request for information from you:

How many help and support groups you fund directly or indirectly for (A) male and (B) female victims of domestic violence and their children and (C) how much each one receives pa.

Your request for information has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I can confirm that Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) holds the information you have requested which is as follows:

Presently, HCC supports the victims of domestic violence within the County in the following ways:

There are seven refuges and 3 floating support schemes, which are exclusively available for women and the children of domestic violence victims.

HCC financial support is as follows:

Adult Care Services - Supporting People provided £765,031, in 06/07 to these refuges and floating support schemes.
Adult Care Services provided £3000, in 06/07, for the Refuge in North Herts.
Children’s Schools & Families provided £68,384, in 06/07, to support the children of domestic violence.

There is no service exclusively for men, which is supported by HCC.

Finally, a member of HCC staff, chair’s the County Domestic Violence Forum and line manages the Domestic Violence Helpline Co-ordinator.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, quoting the reference number on this letter. To find out more about Freedom of Information, please visit http://www.hertsdirect.org/.
