Subject: Freedom of Information Request

Dear Mr Mortimer

You requested information regarding:- How many domestic violence perpetrator programs their are in Gateshead for

a) male perpetrators of domestic violence
b) female perpetrators of domestic violence and
c) how much funding is provided by Gateshead council to provide each service

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act we have decided to provide you with the information requested.

There are currently 2 programmes operating in Gateshead for Male perpetrators of Domestic Violence. One is a Probation programme for perpetrators mandated through the criminal courts. The other is the Safer Families programme, which is open to any male who acknowledges he has a problem with violence.

There are no programmes thus far in Gateshead for female perpetrators, as we do not have any evidence to suggest there is a need for such programmes at this stage.

In terms of funding, Gateshead Council do not provide any funding for the Probation Programme, and the Safer Families perpetrator Programme does not currently receive funding from the Council for this element of the work.

Yours Faithfully

Tanya Rossington
