Dear Mr Mortimer

Having consulted my colleagues across a number of relevant service areas I would advise you that this Council does not currently provide any specific funding to Domestic Violence projects for either men or women. The Erewash Community Safety partnership, of which Erewash Borough Council are a member, have allocated £4,000 to support activity within its Domestic Violence action plan, to encourage increased reporting of domestic violence through promotion work and via the Domestic Violence drop ins, this funding is not prescribed for either Male or Female victims but for all victims of domestic violence. This funding is provided by Erewash Community Safety Partnership and not Erewash Borough Council directly. We are not able to quantify the element of funding for domestic violence attributable to Erewash Borough Council.

Although we have assumed that your request refers to the current support for such groups, I would finally add that as recently as 2003/04 the Council did provide grant funding of £2500 to the Queens Hall Hostel, providing accommodation for female victims of domestic violence.

Yours sincerely
