Dear Mr Mortimer
Thank you for your recent email requesting information about our support
of charities offering information and advice to victims of domestic
abuse. We take part in North Surrey Domestic Violence Forum, which
is held quarterly and involves two other local Councils - Spelthorne
and Elmbridge, and we take it in turns to host this event.
The Epsom &
Ewell Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) of which EEBC
is a member have contributed £28,000 to the North Surrey Domestic
Violence Outreach Service to provide support to victims of domestic
abuse, (including the part funding of an outreach worker). This service
is managed through the North Surrey Domestic Violence forum.
The Epsom & Ewell CDRP and the Council have also provided £10,000
(£5,000 each) to set up a sanctuary scheme for victims of domestic
violence.
We also support
Relate, by providing accommodation, and this was worth £20,500
last year. Although we support other charities / voluntary organisations,
such as CAB and Victim Support, which may offer advice and help to
sufferers from domestic abuse, Relate is probably the only one that
specialises in relationship problems.
Yours sincerely
Pat Heath
