Dear Michael
Wiffen
You requested
information about how many domestic violence perpetrator programs
their are in Edinburgh City Council for:-
(A) Male perpetrators
of domestic violence?
There are
two male perpetrator programmes (Domestic Violence Probation Project
and Working with Men) run under the auspices of the CEC.
DVPP is a
court mandated project (IE the men have to be convicted of a DV offence
and placed on probation).
WWM is non-court
mandated (i.e. the men can self refer or be referred by a
variety of agencies).
(B) Female
perpetrators of domestic violence?
There are
none for women perpetrators.
(C) You also
requested to know how much funding is provided by Edinburgh City Council
to provide each service?
The domestic
violence probation project is funded by a Scottish Executive Justice
Department grant of £208,000 paid to City of Edinburgh Council
and Midlothian Council as part of the overall funding for Criminal
Justice social work (Probation) services in Lothian and Borders.
The Working
with Men project receives £50,000 /per year for this year and
next from the Scottish Executive and the City of Edinburgh Council
Children and families department provides in kind funding in terms
of supervision, accommodation, telephones etc.
Yours sincerely,
Douglas Stephen
Department of Health & Social Care
