Dear Mr Wiffen,
Dorset Probation is running
IDAP as per the national Probation Service directive. We are aware
that there are only a very small number of convicted male perpetrators
able to access this programme currently due to funding constraints.
This is currently an issue of debate for the Dorset Domestic Violence
Strategic Group which may well decide to fund the women's safety worker
element of IDAP this financial year. At the present time we are not
putting any funding into IDAP. There is a community perpetrator programme
for non convicted male perpetrators running in Bournemouth (which
is not part of Dorset County Council's area). There are currently
no Dorset men on this programme but we have an option to buy into
it should funding become available. As with IDAP at the current time
we are not funding this programme.
There are no programmes
available for female perpetrators (convicted or non convicted)
Yours Sincerely
Miss Hannah Rashley

Subject: Official request for information by Men's Aid
Dear Dave,
I am the Domestic Violence
Co-ordinator for Dorset County (excluding Bournemouth & Poole
Unitary Authorities). As a County Council we fund children's workers
in two of the three Dorset refuges and also give a small grant to
the Dorset Women's Outreach Project each year. However, we do not
provide any other direct DV services for either women or men.
We are a pilot
LAA area and have a target to reduce the impact of DV. Funding associated
with this target is being used to fund a pilot counselling project
for women in the east of the county and has also supported the mankind
Initiative in setting up their lifeline project in Dorset.
Kind regards
Nicola Pengelly
