Dear Mr Mortimer
The Borough Council
provides grants to Crewe Women’s Aid and has done for a number
of years – currently in year 2 of a 3 year SLA - £6,000
p.a.
Also grant-aided
Domestic Abuse Partnership £1,000 in 05/06, £2,000 in
06/07 and
Survive(an organisation
which provides support for victims of abuse) grant £4,000 in
05/06, £1,000 in 06/07
Plus support for
organisations like CAB/Samaritans/Relate
Through the Safer
Communities Partnership £18,000 has been contributed to the
development of Family Support Units with Cheshire Police. This funds
the introduction of Independent Domestic Violence Advocates to support
the work of the units in each police area in Cheshire. This is a county
wide approach supported by all Crime Reduction Partnerships and co-ordinated
by Cheshire Domestic Abuse Partnership. This also supports the introduction
of Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferencing provide a co-ordinated
approach to tackling offenders and protecting victims, based on proven
best practice pioneered in Cardiff
Of the contributions
above only Women’s Aid is specifically for women victims of
domestic abuse; the other organisations deal with all groups.
The Borough Council
welcomes applications from organisations which have a presence in
the area and are considered on a standard scoring system to ensure
fair allocation.
