Dear Mr Wiffen
To my knowledge there are
no programmes for the perpetrators of domestic violence for either
men or women in Blyth Valley. However I understand Northumbria Probation
do some work with those convicted. As such Blyth Valley Borough Council
do not make a financial contribution.

We have not provieded
any support to groups specifically for male victims of domestic abuse
We pay £13,000
pa to Cheviot Housing who provide 13 refuge spaces in South East Northumberland.
In addition in
the past the Blyth Valley Crime and Disorder reduction partnership
have supported, the now defunct, Northumberland Domestic Violence
project with £6,000 pa and officer time. This was mainly for
the administration of the South East Northumberland domestic violence
forum.
Since March 2006
the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships in the area have taken
over the running of the domestic violence forums and are looking at
ways of increasing the range of support services.
In Blyth Valley
we have just appointed a part time domestic violence coordinator to
support the development of this work.
Finally I would
let you know that Victim Support are currently seeking funding from
the 3 CDRPs in Northumberland for finance to employ 2 outreach workers
to deal with issues of domestic violence.
