Dear Mr Mortimer
The following information
can be supplied to your question:
"We would like to
know exactly how many help and support groups are funded directly
or indirectly by Aberdeen City Council for (A) male and (B) female
victims of domestic abuse and (C) how much each one received in the
last full financial year".
A. There are no male groups
currently supported by Aberdeen City Council.
B. The two specialist accommodation
based services funded by Supporting People Grant are both for women:
C. Grampian Women's Aid
are funded by Supporting People to deliver housing support to 11 women
in two refuges. The annual contract value in 05/06 was £88,541.
Aberdeen Women's Aid were not fully operational in the last financial
year and were subject to a moratorium. No grant was paid during 05/06.
However, Supporting People previously funded 23 places at three sites
with an annual contract value of £41,000 approx.
In 2005/2006 Supporting
People funded support to a total of 47 women fleeing domestic violence.
The enquiry relates
to help and support groups. People in other SP funded services may
also be fleeing domestic violence but this is not the primary need.
Some Council owned properties are let to the Womens Aid organisations
at preferential rentals.
Yours sincerely
John Ross
