Male victims of domestic violence frequently face ridicule rather than help when attempting to leave a violent relationship.

On the one hand men are expected to deal with the issue themselves- and on the other hand they face prison if they defend themselves physically.

Furthermore, custody of the children is usually given to the mother rather than the father and this can result in fathers remaining in violent homes to protect the children.

The first step is state funding of the voluntary associations that have already sprung up to deal with the problem. Ten million pounds a year would be the very minimum that would be required for a national network of refuges.

The police and social services must adopt a gender neutral stance and children must be allowed to leave a violent home and live with the father when the mother is violent.

We call upon the British Government to-

  1. Recognise the special problems of male victims of domestic violence in the United Kingdom. These include fear of ridicule and the likely-hood that his children may remain with his violent partner.
  2. Fund a national network of domestic violence shelters for men and their children (men will not leave a violent relationship unless they can find a place of safety for their children). This will involve, as a bare minimum, ten million pounds a year channeled through the Mankind Initiative and Men's Aid.
  3. Work towards equality of treatment for men and women by all government departments in the shortest possible time.

Stop systematic removal of children by UK Social Services. They should open the door of the Secret Family Courts and let the daylight of open inquiry illuminate their work.

Approximately 1 in 20 children have been taken into care, some adopted, at some point in their lives. Nearly 60,000 children are taken into care each year. That's the entire population of 100 primary schools. Each case costs the taxpayer an average of £70K in legal fees, many cost over £350K. There are other costs, costs that needlessly drain the resources of local authorities, central government and charities. Private children's homes charge up to '£7000 per week per child' and foster parents in Slough for example get '£400 per week per child' Children in care cost the taxpayer over £830 million pounds a year. That's an average of £2,500 per child, per week-more than four times what it would cost to send a child to Eton.

This petition was created for the purpose of informing persons of society of the obtrusive actions of MCFD,CPS and children's aid society.
It is within legislation, children and family community services act,UN agreements and the constitution that children and families are the foundation of society. That government and their branches are obligated to put supports in place to keep the natural family in the most beneficial enviroment(the home). MCFD/CPS places the child(ren) in fostercare.Leaving the natural family destoyed. The child protection business is a multi dollared business and thousands are spents on fostercare, court costs and lawyer fees. Where for a fraction of the costs, support could/should be put into place to keep the family intact and support the child in the most beneficial enviroment.
I have a website explaining my story, www.tinyurl.com/66vo2
Please sign this petition in support of children and their natural families.

We the undersigned would like to register our surprise and disapproval at the NSPCC briefing notes provided for MPs in the UK parliament during the Children and Adoption Bill regarding the presumption of contact between children and their parents.

These briefing notes are widely interpreted to mean that the NSPCC no longer agrees with the principle of contact between children and the non-resident parent, usually the father.

To support this change in policy the NSPCC has used the number of child deaths. The deliberate impression given by using this statistic is that fathers are responsible for these deaths and therefore should not be entitled to the presumption of contact. This argument does not follow.

The fact that the non-resident parent mainly kills children has no connection with the gender of the parent and it is misleading to use this statistic in this way. Further it is wrong to imply that both natural parents do not provide the best protection for their children.

It is commonly accepted by all the law enforcement agencies that the principal perpetrator of domestic child abuse is the stepfather or live-in boyfriend not the natural father. Whilst we applaud the policy for together trying to bring a full-stop to abuse wherever it may occur the NSPCC has a duty of care to children not to misrepresent the true situation and the former policy, which recognized the importance of both natural parents, commanded a great deal of support.

Any policy which fails to take into account the realities of modern day family life is bound to do a disservice and we implore the NSPCC to think again about the presumption of contact mentioned in the briefing notes provided for MPs if it really wants to bring child abuse to an end.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Make provision for ALL victims of domestic abuse regardless of their gender.

"Domestic abuse, according to hundreds of studies from around the world and including Britain, affects men and women in equal numbers. Yet the government has suppressed these facts and focused only on female victims. This means that where women have 500 refuges supported by the government, males have no where to go with their children when they are attacked. This is sexist and wrong and we petition the prime minister to end this practice of discrimination by making services and funds available to protect both genders."
